388 Stroker LT1 Build

Starting from scratch here. Got a 383 .060 short block and tore it down.

Here are some parts going back in.

Weisco Pro Tru Pistons
6 in. H-Beam Rods
Everything from oil pan/pump to rocker arm studs- ARP Studs
Clevite H Series Bearings
4-bolt splayed main caps
Canton Race pan setup
Heads decked .040, Beehive springs, ported/polished. Tested on flow bench with crazy good numbers for stock heads.
Stock intake bored to accept 58mm throttle body ( still needs ported/polished, powder coated)

Thats just a jist of what I have now to get me started. The guy building the short block should have it done this week. Im hoping for 500-600 hp.

Here is the block with the caps installed. I just got it back yesterday. Have to line hone it, clean it and paint it red.

And here is the pan with some custom chevy decals

Well you aren't going to make 500-600HP with stock heads so what are your crazy flow numbers? I know what it takes to make 550+HP and you need at least a high 230/240@50 camshaft, 11.5+compression, good quench, Ported heads and intake setup, 1-3/4" headers with 3" exhaust and a good PCM tuner. what are you using?

Im getting a custom ground cam with big numbers. It will have high compression since the heads are decked .040 and I will be running atleast 100 octane. The heads are equal numbers if not better then some aftermarket heads. The best PCM tuner out there (PCM For Less) has a shop 15 minutes from me so that is all good.

Just check back in 6 months and I will show you dyno runs.

Thanks

Not saying it's not doable b/c I made 500HP with my 355" LT1 and now make quite abit more since upgrading to a higher compression 383. Just trying to help you b/c I have built what your looking to do and it can be done in variations. Are you going to stay hydraulic or go to a solid roller? What are your et goals for this setup?

oh yeah I appreciate any help. Im staying Hydraulic so it will be some what reliable and last I know that will hurt me on power but I do try and want to still drive it on the street and not wear out the motor as fast.
Im going to go with scorpion 1003 1.6-7/16 rockers.

I dont realy have any et goals but obviously the faster the better.

I'm right around 550fwhp with my 383 with a mild stroker cam on typical pump gas. Your build is easily doable.

Is it easily doable with unported LT1 heads that have only been milled?

Sounds good. However, don't buy the springs until you have a cam selected.

What oil pump would you guys run on this motor. I see the melling 10554 is a good pump, but wouldnt the 10550 be better because of the extra 25% volume?

Thanks
