IMO the "off shore" eagle stuff is junk. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 383 again. This time I'm using a Crower rotating assembly. $$$$ but I don't want to have to rebuild a third time.

all the 4340 forged stuff is chinese. callies, cola, crower, eagle, scat...the list goes on and on. the difference is in the heat treating.

Re: 383 stroker kit

If you are looking for a pretty straightforward drop in assembly, I can put together something that is balanced so you can use your OEM damper and flywheel. Let me know what year it is and I'll also get you the right woodruff key.

The Eagle and Scat stuff is forged in China and finish machined here in the states, but Cola, Callies and Howards cranks are all forged at the Louisville Forge in KY. Not sure who forges Crowers stuff but I am 99% sure it is not overseas.

Re: 383 stroker kit

Go on Ebay or try Flatlander racing. There are some great prices on Eagle and Scat parts on there.

Also make sure you know what bearing clearance you need when you order your bearings. I wouldn't order the bearings until your machine work is done.
Stock tolerances probably won't be what you want and you will need a certain bearing. I know this because I just made this mistake.

I don't think that Scat and Eagle make junk parts but many builders don't check things the way they should and they make a junk engine.
All depends on how much you want to spend.

There are Many people going very fast on some Factory beefed up parts, good machining and proper assembly

I have to agree that the engine build is critical. Super-great parts thrown together will fail. There is a world of difference between the Scat/Eagle off shore parts and the USA parts. You can go fast on anything once or twice. I bracket race and my Eagle stuff failed midway in the season (about 100 passes).

Crower stuff is made in USA however they are starting a low cost Chineese casted product line to price match Eagle and Scat.

Don't bother to check. They are forged and machined in the US. However, the steel comes from Japan, I believe. Japan is, however, a long way from China (figuratively speaking of course).
