i've got a 95 convertible z28 automatic, all show-very lil go. i want to build me a new motor, have many options but am new to LT1, ect.. motor now is stock exc. 4 bolt-ons= hypertech PP, K&N filter, flowmaster exhaust, edelbrok headers, rebuilt trans w/ BM shiftkit, HD torque converter.

i want about 400-500Hp or so, while keeping this car as my everyday driver, any suggestions? i dont know where to start.

 

couple questions
does this car have to pass emissions test?
when you say its "all show" does that imply you also want the engine bay to be showy as well?
as for power do you want the power all the time or would having it at the push of a button suffice?
and finally how much are you looking to spend?

I would personally do a head and cam package and a PCM tune to match. The LT4 kit or the one of LLoyd Elliot packages. Both would net you around 400 HP. With an auto loader those packeages will still be usable without changing the converter. The LE2 package is what i have my eye on for an upcomming lt1 build.

 

yes, car must pass CA smog & i emphasize must be reliable everyday driver.

not concerned too much how showy engine looks under the hood.

to give u a little more information. the car has 95 front end converted to the 98-02 clip w/ SLP ultra Zhood, chrome grille insert in scoop, chrome grille craft grille, custom paint, RK sports rollbar (chromed), clear corners, 20" zenetti vegas. -working on suspension, i got tokiko shocks and struts, & a bushing kit by suspension energy, gonna put on this weekend. rub a lil in the back w/ 20's hopefully the shocks will help.

i dont have a great budget but have a number of contacts. full machine shop & knowledgable machinist w/ chevy motors.,i can get powerdyne supercharger or NOS kit for discount, isky cam and more. im just trying to map out my options.
