thoughts on why i have to give the car the gas while turning the key to start it? once the car starts i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running.
Suggestions on things to check would be great....
So far so good i have not blown the head gasket yet... fingers crossed that it stays that way..

Do you have the ability to log a datamaster file? Curious to see what your IAC position looks like. Did you try to adjust the screw on the throttle body (aftermarket) to open the blades alittle. That is what it sounds like is the issue here. Mite have to also bring down the iac position alittle like I did, and also adjust your TPS if needed (volts) and % wise. Let us know....But like I said, turn the top screw on the throttle body clockwise to open the blades abit, should remedy the issue.

 

its still a stock throttle body it has started and held idle before but it was before it blew the last head gaskets and then it would loose idle if i pluged the harness into the alt. the alt doenst charge the system either any more but it checks out fine. i was thinking maybe a ground back then but now it doesnt even fix the problem when i unplug the harness.

 

hmm maybe someone can chime in here. Do you have the ability to scan with datamaster? Are you getting any SES lights or DTC codes?

 

i am getting an ses light about 5 seconds after start up not sure what it is have no way of scanning it presently .

 

got an idle opened up the throttle body with the screw still no charge with alt going to get it tested again.. auto zone makes lots of mistakes why not this one...
