I had a carborated 383 in a 87 IROC that got about the same. It was useless though because I couldn't keep U-joints or drive shafts in it. Slung a few driveshafts on local cruise nights.

the guy in the machine shop told me to expect 500+ RWHP but i think it will be less. what do u guys think?!?!
Tell the "guy in the machine shop" you'll pay him based on how close your engine dynos to 500 rwhp. If it only makes 400rwhp you'll pay him 400/500 or 80% of what he quoted. He may change his tune..or refuse to build your engine. Oh, and don't run it on his dyno. Choose and independent shop to test it.

I'm in the 420rwhp or so camp (M6) if everything is pretty much right on. Maybe 20-30 more with a custom valvetrain, assuming the heads have a decent flow curve.

i would like to be in the range u mentioned more or less. i'm planning to upgrade my nitrous system to a 300 shot instead of the 150 i have right now but i think it's too risky.

No offence to "Bret" but I dont feel this application warrants custom camshaft design. Any place like Cartek or Combination Motorsports and about a dozen other LT1/LS1 based places can suggest a camshaft that will do it just fine

it seems like "machine shop guys" will do everything (include make promises) except guarantee their products
