There have been a few who've done a big block. From what I remember is the strut towers had to be modified and of course custom headers and maybe even custom steering linkage. Probably not as expensive as doing some big cube LSx engine.

Hey Chris,
I have a standard bore 400 block that would clean up at .020 and .030 for sure...And my friend still has my crank - needs to be turned 10-10

You see!!!! You guys are not disagreing with me. LOL. I have a friend that has a 454 block sitting in his garage. I know of a guy with an LT1 car like mine who took a 454 and made into a 460 CI. Damn!! it runs nice. Tottaly got away from the EFI. It looks so simple its not even funny.
Chris
Todd How much for your Big Block. Do you have the heads? Im sure your TH-350 would bolt up to that? Oh by the way. I wil be getting your Tranny soon. I hope its still availible for me

Chris,
I have a 400 small block. I was going to make a 406+ depending on whether or not I wanted to get a new crank. Or maybe a REALLY long rod 350. Unfortunately, I don't have a decent set of heads or they would be on the Nova.
If you have your heart set on a big block, my friend has whatever you could possibly want. He is currently building one to go into an RX7...

One more thing - the dirty substance you mention above. Did you use moly lube during the engine assembly? If you did it is most likely what you are seeing

Injuneer thanks for the site. That ride looks awsome,
Todd: During my install I used the standard assembly lupe along with some Lucas Oil. I placed them both on the bearings during my install. I had a pretty good idea that I would crank the crap out of this motor during its pre-start days so I wanted to make sure I had enough lube to support it.

And now that I think about it TODD. This motor hasn't even begun to be broken in yet. From the first day it ran from now with all the runs that I attempted it prolly has less than 2000K on it.

Ok people. UPDATE: (NOT GOOD)
I went down to autozone and picked up a fuel pressure tester. Hooked it up to the back of the shrader valve and this is what I found.
WITH KEY ON: Pressure gage read 80PSI
WITH ENGINE RUNNING: Pressure gage read 100psi and it was bouncing back and forward from 90psi to 100psi
WITH ENGINE REVING UP AND DOWN: Gage went down to 80psi and back up to a bouncing 100psi:
REMOVED #3 SPARK PLUG FOR INSPECTION: The plug was black
Also. IM still having idling issues.
Now with this information my opinion is that my fuel pressure regulator is bad.
As far as my idling issues. IM begining to think that my opti spark is going out (AGAIN)
might be time for a LTCC set up. Thats if I decide to keep the LT1. the BBC is sounding good right now.
Let me know what you all think.
Thanks

Chris,
It won't idle correctly with that much fuel pressure. Try changing the plugs and fuel pressure regulator (or borrow one if you have some one close that you can get it from - I'd loan you mine but I'm going to a track rental next weekend). Then re-check the fuel pressure and see what happens. At least it's cheaper than a big block.

Thanks TODD I'll do that. Do fuel pressure regulators go bad? I think if I do the regulator I might as well do injectors along with it. The black spark plug would me its running rich right?

Chris,
Yes, regulators can go bad. I wouldn't worry about the injectors just yet - Do they need to be replaced - could be I don't know how to tell - Maybe Injuneer or Shoebox can answer that. Since you know the fuel pressure regulator is bad, replace it 1st. Just my 2 cents.

When you had PCM for Less do your tune, did you tell them it would be running 80-100psi fuel pressure? Aren't most LT1's around 45psi? And can those stock fuel injectors work at 100psi or will they have a hard time overcoming that kind of pressure?

Having your buddies exterior fuel pump in series with the pump in the tank may be whats boosting that fuel pressure so high...

If your computer isn't tuned for the way your car is set up, it may be giving your some trouble controlling idle....and stock fuel injectors probably won't be keeping up with what your engine wants on the top end...

Is it a stock FPR or an aftermarket AFPR? If aftermarket, what brand is it? There is one brand that seems to fail frequently, and when it does, you end up with 80psi fuel pressure.

With 100psi, you would be flowing about 50% more fuel than the PCM expects it to flow. What injectors do you have? While the stock injectors would not be working well at 100psi, I suspect given the mods to your engine, you have larger injectors, probably a pintle style injector, which will work at those pressure.

Now we know why the oil was high and the pressure was not good... it was filled with gasoline. Hopefully, you didn't drive it too far with that condition.

Well I couldn't get it out of the drive way. It would not idle. So perhaps that is a positive.
The FPR is STOCK and the Injectors are STOCK. I DID NOT INSTALL THAT exterior fuel pump. The only thing I did was replace the Fuel filter.
Im beggining to think that maybe PCMFORLESS may have not did the tune right. Becuase I thought stock fuel pressure should be around 40psi or so. NOT a Bouncing 100PSI. After pulling out one of the plugs it looks as if it is running rich.
