383 cam???? Need help!!!

Ok I got a cc306 in there, but I dont want to spin the engine so high. Whats another off the shelf cam that would make good power, and wont have to spin the engine so high? Is a 218/218 .544 .544 cam to small?

A cc306 isn't big for a 383, but if you want to go small for emission and better driveability then you have the cc503. Watch your DCR beffore baying the cam.

Re: 383 cam???? Need help!!!

Remember that in a 383 with decent compression that cam will act like it has about 10 to 12 degrees less of duration. I had a 224/230 XE in my 10:1 comp 383 when I first put it together and it had only a slight thump to the exhaust. It also peaked below 6000 rpm. I now have the GM847 and it thumps quite better and revs very smoothly to 7000 rpm (by the factory tach).

I wouldnt go smaller than the CC305 or the GM 846 range.

That's a lot of compression to run a small cam, if anything you should get a bigger cam. The cc468 is a good cam for your motor, it will idle similar to the cc306.
