bore is the same, stroke is different.

383 = 3.750 stroke
396 = 3.875 I believe

Re: 383-396

The extra machine work involved in a 396 makes it not so popular.

13CI has never won a race. The differance in the machine work,if you dont go with an aftermarket block, is not worth it. You could go to a 406 or bigger for the same expense or trouble.

I have a Callies crank, Oliver 5.85" billet steel rods, and JE pistons....This is the combo LPE used in my 383 and its been flawless since 1995...In fact, when I just freshened the motor I did a cam change and head freshen and just left the bottom end alone...It compression tested 205-220 in all 8 so I left it alone...If it ain't broke, don't fix it because you are going to break something else..(my motto..)

Lunati Crank, Oliver Billet 6.00 Rods, Diamond pistons.. I like your Rods choice Its the BEST I think! And I guess its the most powerful rotating assembly.

Re: 383-396

Won't get much for "power" from a rotating assembly.

What you need is an assembly that will get the job done without breaking the bank. Then take the money you saved by NOT buying billet parts and put that into the heads, intake, camshaft, valvetrain.

Too many people waste money on stuff they don't need.

A few questions though....

Is this going to be NA or are you going to run a power adder?
What's your HP/TQ goal?
What's the budget?

My rotating assembly should handle +800 hp ,so for different situations good quality parts required.

Think we covered that.

Everyone's needs are different. Just important to know what you need in the first place.
