Have your machinist do the minimum it takes to get the bores true. Also check to see that you can get the pistons you want in that size off-the-shelf or are the going to be cu$tom order?

My block was already .030 over, but it needed a little more boring to clean it up. Don't get caught up in the numbers (38Xcid). Less material (larger bore) = earlier retirement

Frankly, if you were lucky enough to be able to go .010 over, you should do it.
I guess you could make an argument that if you don't plan on rebuilding again, going .030 over would give you the best range of options at the lowest cost, but I don't think the price difference or the option difference was as significant as it was 20 years ago, so I'm not sure that's something really worth worrying about anymore.
