Re: 377 stroker build

I hear what yall are saying about spinning the motor to 7k rpm but if you dont have to then why bother. RPM'S kill motors not horsepower, so if im able to achieve 550+ with in in that area then that would be great.

Re: 377 stroker build

No need to spin a stroker motor that high. With the extra torque, he'll be making good HP at lower RPMs

very impressive
thats where the tables end in a stock pcm. they should ALL go to at least 7,000 with tuning. sputtering at 6300 was other issues.

you dont HAVE to spin it up that high, but if the rpm range is available and you have nice stuff in the shortblock why not use it?
i will say that i have seen countless un-impressive 383's and other stroker motors.

Most problems that start at 6300-6500 rpms are valvetrain, not pcm, related.

Ignition I could believe if the system wasn't up to the task. An opti would probably destroy itself above 7500 rpm. The fuel system would probably have more issues at idle than it would at high RPM.

a too small fuel system might idle fine, but may not keep up at high rpm.

Re: 377 stroker build

I was thinking more in terms of people using the stock PCM with large high impedence injectors. Some of them can't handle the low pulse widths needed for idle. Also, the large pumps will be constantly recirculating the fuel which will heat up. Shawn will need to replace the stock intank pump/booster combo he has before this thing is put together.

i will say that

Thats just like saying if you go to a buffet and you have a large stomach to put all the food in you should eat all the food.

I agree, which is why im going against the grain here with the next build. I see way to may 400-430hp lack luster stroker builds that i feel should be putting out more. Now Im not saying that those people whith in that range arent happy with there there cars as maybee that how they wanted them but Im after a bit more.
