377 stroker build

Im trying to put togeather a group of parts that will go well with a 377 stroker. My question is Im trying to decide weather some afr 215rr or some brodix track 1 heads would be suitable for this?
Max rpm is going to be around 6500, it will be a street/track car. I will be using a 200 shot on the bottle and a static comp of around 11.5 and a dynamic of 9.0. Also this will be a solid roller. Isky Tool Room lifters will be used along with some Crane red zome spings. Is this looking good so far?.

De-stroker from what? I would assume he is using a 3.75 stroke crank in a 350 block, which is normally a 3.48, hence "stroker"

Edit: Have you looked at an eagle crank and rods set? I haven't had any trouble with mine, and the guy who I bought my shortblock from did some dyno runs to 900hp with a 2 bolt main! Their forged 4340 stuff seems pretty good to me, maybe get some JE nitrous pistons. They are 2618 aluminum though, so get used to piston slap if you have them gapped for nitrous.

If you wanted to put some real money into it (which it sounds like you do) just go with a callies racemaster crank, oliver rods, and again, JE pistons. You can't go wrong with the high dollar parts.

Its a stroker, Im just keeping the standard bore and increasing the stroke.

Re: 377 stroker build

I do plan on using some good parts with this next motor. But heads is what im saving up for right now. Im wanting to know if afr 215rr or having some brodix track 1 heads converted and worked by lloyd will feed this motor to 500+hp. But more importantly, have alot of area under the curve which a solid roller will give.

Well at those power levels, I would personally think you are fine with Eagle ESP internals and some good pistons (JE, Mahle, etc.)

It's your disgression though, I plan on doing running my motor with 700hp (on spray) until I can afford a turbo setup. Then I'll tell you how much it can really hold

Re: 377 stroker build

I havent picked out a crank or rods as of yet. But i do plan on using nitrous specific pistons. What Im trying to figure out is will the 215rr or the brodix track 1 heads will be able to feed this motor?.

Re: 377 stroker build

Well if you only want 500rwhp naturally aspirated then yes, you might even have a little case of overkill. With some portwork I think those 215rr heads can flow in the 380cfm range, I could be wrong though, might be thinking of some different heads.

I don't know anything about the brodix heads though.

How many miles on the shortblock? I don't understand why if you're buying new pistons you don't clean up the cylinders with a .020 or .030 overbore.

Re: 377 stroker build

He basically wants to use a minimal overbore to retain cylinder wall strength. Basically use the smallest overbore necessary to make sure the cylinder walls are straight and round.

Like we discussed earlier, the track 1s will get you there without much problem. Just remember, whichever parts you buy first will determine alot of the rest of the parts you will need. Ie. 18 degree heads will require 18 degree pistons, different intakes, etc... Also, no offense to Lloyd or anyone else who ports heads, but I think you should swallow a little pride and go talk to Brent since he has alot of experience doing this type of thing. I think he also still has the track 1 heads from his 4 door for sale. That car made over 550 rwhp on pump swill.

Re: 377 stroker build

i agree about the 6500 limit....anymore, that's not spinning very high at all...
of course the stock pcm doesn't keep up much past that range....so a piggy back controller or a carbed setup would be optimal.

Re: 377 stroker build

7100 is very impressive for the stock pcm....i've seen some guys start sputtering a little as early as 6300

very impressive
