370+ hp LT1
370+ hp LT1
first off i don't own a LT1 powered car (yet) and i'm stuck in wyoming till i'm done with school. i'm just punchn' my automotive clown but when i'm done i plan on doing an 3rd gen LT1 swap because its less everthing the LS1 swap. so i was wondering how much power i could get with some long tube headers, full exhust, nice very streetable cam, cam gears, dyno tune, LT4 vette intake (maybe?), msd ignition system, and over sized valves. how close to the 370 whp mark wil i be? is there anything else i can done? the car will be daliy driven except for witner, and i won't put nitrous or any froced induction on it. thanks for any input.
btw: i plan on making the car a M3 eater at autox's and track days.

Re: 370+ hp LT1
check out elliotportworks.com. Lloyd can get you that number with a heads cam package. btw, there are no cam gears in the lt1, its a timing chain. also, the lt4 intake will not be needed and it does not directly bolt to the lt1 heads. it really isnt worth the money to have it machined to fit the lt1 heads for the very small amount of power you will pick up. also realize that the vette lt1's/lt4's are exactly the same as the other lt1's/lt4's (minus the caprice and impalla cars they have cast iron heads). sorry, it just frustates me when people brag about there t/a or camaro that has the vette motor. the internals of the motor is exactly the same other than all vettes should have a 4 bolt block, which does not increase performance.

Re: 370+ hp LT1
Gears will try to spread apart when rotated against eachother. I had never thought of that as far as a negative of gear drives but as soon as it was said I understood completely. It would not put pressure on at rest but running it absolutely would.
