Not sure what kind of hurry you are in but judging by the fact that you're continuing to look at used stuff you seem to be in haste mode.
Have you tried calling a builder and seeing what they recommend? A good builder can build you a shortblock in a week or two - far shorter than it would take for you to straighten out someone else's mistakes.

I see no reason in not buying used stuff as long as it is perfect running condition. I'm still a college student and don't need to look into investing thousands into a car I DD when it's raining or not bike weather. And, $2,000 for a wrecked T56 car with 93,xxx miles on it? My car is an auto and I've always dreamed of having a 6-speed.
Where is this 383 for sale located? That has to be a typo. The heads are worth that.

^ The link to the posting I found the guy through. The block listed is not the 383. I don't see why it's so hard to believe why he's selling it so cheap. I've come across major deals before. Some people just either don't have the time to sell it for what it's worth, or are just not all there. He even offered for me to come down and look at it and hear it run when I wanted. So, I don't really see that as him just joking around.
