Re: 306 cam users?

The 306 is rather BIG for a stock bottom, if you don't understand how big it is and that big cams lope you are not prepared. BOTH locals I know who went with cams of this size one exactly thins cam ended up not wanting to drive the car as much, one sold and the other bought a second f-body so he could drive and enjoy. Both happened because they got caught up in the "more is better" mentality and didn't understand exactly what a cam thios size would be like.

Re: 306 cam users?

could be lumpier in my opinion. Hey bret you'll be grinding a big cam for my LE3 package in 2 months or so and I can't wait for that. i daily drive mine in 1 hour of stop and go, sure after a hard day at work its a bit tempermental, but I like it and it scares all the other commuter cars my brakes do suck with where my idle is at also.

One guy went with the 306 the other went with a Comp 230/236 in a high lift version, with 4.10s behind a T56 on an otherwise fairly stock car is pulls well but the surge and everything else associated with it drove the guy to buy a 93 to keep fairly stock.

I hate to see people jump too big and end up not liking the car. I went small for my first cam still better to drive than stock so I enjoy it more but I now have a basis to decide on my next cam. This is an area where I strongly believe it is better to error on the conservative side. Seen too many guys go too far and get frustrated and sell or park cars. Too small just means you enjoy it for awhile and then rip into it again but still have the ambition to do so because you are still enjoying the car.

Now the 306 in a stroker that is a better fit and I've seen it work well.

Get a LE2 if you are going to be doing that then. No point in going to a LE3 if you are driving them that much.
