300 WHP and high 12's.
I am new to the F Body world and would like to know the smartest way to get to this goal. My 96 Z is bone stock down to the 2.73's right now with the exception of a trick flow elbow that I replaced to fix the dry rotted one that came with the car. Car has 90,000 miles and is in very good condition.
I can't let my GTP put my weekend car to shame.
I want to retain stock driveability and don't want to deal with crappy parts like I went through with modding the GTP.
Edit: Also, at minimum I want to retain the catalytic converters as the smell got old really fast on my other cars without them.
Current plans.
Intake
Headers
Tuner
3.23's or 3.42's
What else will it take to get me there, I am an experienced mechanic and built my 9.5:1 GTP myself so nothing is out of the question.
I just want to do things right the first time this time. Thanks for any input.

With an automatic most guys like 3.73s, if you want to stay milder 3.42s can be OK but for a weekend car I would go straight to 3.73s, most people like them in daily cars. With an M6 then 4.10s the .50 OD eats it up.
By intake you mean CAI not manifold right?
Headers are a good idea.
Some 1.6 roller rockers and fresh valve springs would be good. The LT4 springs are a good cheap option for a stock cam with 1.6s.
Give it a good tune and you should be getting close to the HP goal.
For the ET you will need suspension, tires and stall if an automatic. Modern stalls drive wonderfully so no worries. I like Edge, Yank and Vig are good too, but cost more due to billet covers. Yocould tickle 12s at this but wont likely match your GTP yet.
