you should def use a thread sealant on the threads, and again if you dont already have the rockers i would get 7/16 just for added insurance

You do not "need" the 7/16" studs. IF you are replacing rockers anway, get them. Otherwise, don't bother.

I talked to Lloyd about that same subject because of the comp spring issue. He started using PAC springs months back, but the website has not been updated I guess. I would see if you can find out when they were done by him if possible.

I already had 3/8 rocker arms , so I am just going to go with arp studs. They are a much better metal compared to the standard crap.

Ok, well I have to get the rockers anyways, so I will spend the extra $40-50 for the added insurance.
Thanks a lot

Yea, No Doubt, ARP 7/16 studs....and permnatex #2 the "NON-drying" sealant on them (Not silicone RTV, like some use).........3/8 studs not only commonly break, but they also flex MUCH more than the 7/16 studs ever do.....when a person is buying rockers anyway, Not spending the extra 30 bucks for ARP 7/16 studs is crazy............Joe

Question off topic: 1.6 rockers

Thanks for the info, it seems as if the best idea is 7/16 even though I don't need them.

Just want some advice:
My '94 Z28 just turned the 100k mark yesterday. when upgrading to 1.6 rockers, do I need to go with new, slightly stiffer springs? The car revs to 5k with no problems. I am not ready to replace the cam, but I just want to get a little more power out of it. The 1.6 rockers should be like a slight cam upgrade ...correct? The bigger rockers will help the engine suck more air/fuel and make my other mods work better ...any opinions?

It's not necessarily that the springs have to be stiffer (they do) but the stock springs can't handle the additional lift from the rockers.

FWIW I broke a factory 3/8s stud with less then 85k miles on my car. That was with just bolt-ons. Probably not the norm, but why chance it over 40 bucks right?

All stock SBC screw in rocker studs have a 3/8" diameter on the portion that screws into the head.

I would assume the stock top is 3/8 too?
