I love my 3:73's, but I have a M6...makes a BIGGGGG difference. I have 6 gears, you have 4....I can do 80+ at around 1,900 rpm.

Funny things that affect your MPG.

I did 11 to 12 mpg when my car was knocking and pinging at part throttle with the AC on. After extensive troubleshooting I discover my IAT giving me funny readings everytime the car went up above 120 to 130 degree engine coolant temp. The readings were off by as much as 50% from chiltons baseline.

I replaced the IAT and my mileage went up to 13.98MPG instantenously and the Knocking and pinging went away. Then I noticed a vibration at 65 to 75 mph that was too slow to be the Driveshaft but consistent even when I shifted into neutral.
It turned out to be a somewhat warped front rotor. I replaced both a couple of weeks ago and filled up the thank. My gas mileage went up again (good). My latest as of yesterday was 216miles on 14 gallons of gas to a total of 15.42 MPG.

Now, I have gotten 250miles on 14gallons before and now its time for me to check the oxygen sensors. I've 141k miles and they have never been replaced. I know I will eventually get my mileage per gallon back the way it used to be.

So as you can see guys and girls, There is more to Gas Mileage than just gears, sparkplugs optys or inginition wires. I have the dreaded 2.72s and I am sure I can do way better in gas mileage than I am doing right now. I sure can use an old laptop to tune up my car though, I could borrow a friends one but I take my sweet time do to things in my car so I better hook up my car to my PC and do it the hard way.

Next in my list, delete EGR, new oxygen sensors, Clean the TB and the IAC. The MAF has been cleaned already.

Mine's about the same.

When I had 2.73 gears and stock converter I got 20-25 mpg.
Then I through in a Vig 3200 and dropped down to about 15 mpg city, still around 25 highway.
Then I put in the 3.73's and then it stayed about the same, maybe down to about 20 mpg on the highway.
Next was the cam, and now I get 12-14 mpg anywhere.

And cops here are no stricter then anywhere else. Cops are cops. You speed, you get caught, you get a ticket. Pretty basic.
yeah, if you have a high enough overdrive (which we do) you actually get better milage when you're going faster. Great excuse for cops anyway =P
