3:73's or 4:10's
4.10s didn't take away any noticeable gas mileage. At 80 MPH I was running 2050 RPM with 3.42s, with the 4.10s I'm at 2400. Not much difference. Around town you can still select your RPMs to keep it from reving, you'll notice a little difference on the highway... it gets up and moves.
I don't take it to the track but I do run the canyons with ZO6s and Subaru WRX STis... no prob! It has good throttle steer and keep the power in the sweet spot.

I installed 4.10 gears recently, and i really love them. Much more fun. I drive my car everyday to work, short distance. Not much difference in rpms on the highway for me. Good luck. Fred
I've had 4.10's in mine for 3 years...Even when it was a daily driver. Last year with the stock motor/exhaust manifolds, it ran 12.82 with them. With the head/cam combo I've went 12.25 @ 111 MPH. I go through the traps at 6000 RPMs...In 3rd gear...With 26" tall tires.
I cruise at 2300 RPM, in O/D with the A4 @ 60 MPH
I get 18+ MPG with a car that runs 12.25
