3:73 Gears How to tell?

3:73 Gears How to tell?

I was just wondering is there a way to tell the diffenrence between gears just by looking at the ring and pinion i just bought and recived gears from a board member and im just curious.

i think you can count the number of teeth on the ring and pinion.
I'm not sure how many teeth they are supposed to have though.

If you count the number of teeth on the ring gear, and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion gear, you should get 3.73 (not 3:73)

Shouldn't the ring gear have something stamped on it like 41-10 being 4.10's as an example.

thanks guys just did the math and it came out to be 3.727272727272727272727 so i guess thats right, thanks alot
