3:73 Gear Swap

3:73 Gear Swap

Is the 93 & 96 Z28's 10 bolt rearend the same? Does it have the same carriers?

no they dont, 2.73 cars have a series 2 carrier, and the 3.23/3.42 cars have the series 3 carrier where the 2 carrier gears are "thick gears" compared to the 3 series, do you have a 6spd or auto

get yourself a stall and it will wake that auto up, another thing o the gears, you might want to fix your speedo after the swap, i just ordered 3.73s myself last night and i ordered some speedo gears so it wont be off, i forgot the part numbers but just do a search for it on here, they are 3.14 a peice off gmpartsdirect.com, but the total after shipping was 20 bucks, so what part of ky are you from?

I live near Frankfort.. This small town called Midway. There's a guy on the board that's going to sell me a set of 3:73 MOTIVE gears. He said it's brand new. It was for his (# Z28. Thatis why I trying to find out if it would fit or not. But he said that it's a deal. Just wanted to make sure it fits right.
