3:42's, what kind of gain???
I will be installing a set of 2002 T/A 3:42's in the convertible next week. Currently the car has 2:73's. What kind of seat-of-the-pants and 1/4 mile difference should I expect?? Has anyone else done this swap?
I went from 2.73's to 3.42's in my car. Definite SOTP gain.
I think they are a good all around gear for the A4. Especially if you plan on running a power adder down the road.
I did alot of other mods at the same time, so I don't know exactly what they will net in ET. I'd say at least .1-.2 tenths.

thats a good difference I went from 3.42s to 410s which is a .70 increase which is the same as your increase will be and it was very obvious, the rpms just shoot up so much faster. You'll love them cause all 4 gears feel so much more powerful, definetly a difference you can feel. The gear swap mod is one which many people say is their favorite mod. I would say 2-3 tenths is possible. I went an average 2 tenths faster with my swap but I was limited to traction, my 60 ft was worse than with stock gears so I could get more out of them with traction. Frankly I think this ratio is great for the daily driver who hits the highway any higher and your starting to really tack alot more rpm and the exhaust is much more noticable.
