3/4" or 1" header bolts

Intsalling my jet hots this week. I just got my percy's gaskets and they are thick as hell. I was wondering if I could get away with using the 3/4" bolts that came with my headers or if I need to get some 1" bolts.

Most header bolt manufacturers recommend a 1 inch bolt for aluminum heads.

I switched to Breslin Splitlocks. I haven't tightened a header bolt in months now.

The Percy's will crush down a little bit to give you more room, however get 1" bolts. I know this for a fact, it will be very hard to start 3/4 inch bolts with those gaskets.

I am using ARP 1" non-locking bolts as nobody has had problems with these and my crappy stage 8's were waste because it's too hard to get those crappy locks off (not to mention if you want to take the header off or tighten the bolts). Basically your two choices are Breslin Splitlocks which IMO are the best option but are 60 bucks or the ARP 1" bolts. I like the ARP's because they have a 12 pt head and they are 5/16 so you can fit a closed end wrench around the head and it won't touch the primary (very good for tightening bolts).

I used the one inch ARP S.S. bolts with the 5/16 hex head. Tried to use Stage 8 but not enough room to clear the 1 3/4" tubes of the Jet Hots. May be looking for another self locking bolt that will clear?

I bought some stainless steel 1" bolts with Allen head, and on the driver side I could get them all on, and tightening the whole driver side takes about 2 minutes. The passenger side I couldn't get them to fit in like 4 places
1" definately better.

ARP-400-1210 from summitracing

These bolts are GREAT! Way better than my Stage 8's.

I used 1" 12pt ARP's with my SLP headers, they worked great. I don't know why anyone would use a 3/4" bolt on aluminum heads when you can use 1". I would think there is a much greater risk of stripping the thread with the 3/4".
