28 lb injectors question

I might get a set of 28lb motorsport injectors from an LS1. My question is will the injectors from an LS1 work right on an LT1. I've had a mix of answers thats y I'm postin this question.

Re: 28 lb injectors question

If they are 28#/HR injectors meant for an LS1 (58psi fuel system), they will only flow 24#/HR in the LT1's 43.5psi system. They will "work" but they will not flow any more than your stock LT1 injectors.

Re: 28 lb injectors question

They will work, but they will flow the same or less (depending on year of the LS1) than stock LT1 injectors.

So basically they'd be a waste of money.

Madwolf: What year LS1 injectors are compatable to the LT1 injectors?

If you're looking for stock replacements, they may not be that bad of a choice, although I would use Ford SVO 24# injectors instead. Otherwise 97, 98 and 01+ LS1 and LS6 injectors will flow the same as stock LT1s.

Re: 28 lb injectors question

Some of the later LSX injectors are apparently 32lbs. at 58psi, those end up being about 28lbs at the LT1 43.5psi I am unsure of the exact details as far as what they were used in though.

Re: 28 lb injectors question

LS2 injectors are rated at 33 #/HR. They do not use the same electrical connector as the LT1/4 and LS1/6 engines. You would have to change all the pigtails for the injectors.

Re: 28 lb injectors question

You can put any size injectors and a fuel pressure regulator on any year LT1. All you need to do is calculate the correct injector flow capacity at the operating pressure, and enter that flow rate into the PCM as the flow constant. It has nothing to do with relearning.

While the 93's may appear to have some flexibility with regard to "tuning" with a fuel pressure regulator, that's really no substitute for doing it the right way in the ECM.

What about LT4 injectors? I bought LT4 injectors (28 lbs) because I thought they would flow more than my stock 24 lb injectors.

I think I'll call Downs Ford and order a set of Ford SVO 28lb or 30lb injectors.

An LT4 injector is flow rated at 43.5psi, just like the LT1 injector. It will flow 28#/HR wen installed in your LT1.

Unless Ford dealers are a lot more benevolent than GM dealers, you're going to get hosed buying anything from a dealer. There are a number of the board sponsors who sell the SVO injectors at reasonable prices. Check out the "Supporting Advertiser Index" for links.
