so with the added power if you beef up the rear you should be able to pull high 11's. then it's cage time...

I figure if I could shave .3 off my 60 (so it would be a 1.7x) then I'd be able to shave .5 off the total ET (11.9-12.0's with a 3.73 gear'd car). I'll never know though since I am in the midst of total reconstruction (turbo 383 setup).

I used the comp 987 springs with the steel retainers, seats and locks for them. Seem to work fine for me...

I was running 987's with mine and the car never ran right. Bret Bauer told me that 987's are enough spring for that cam, and they won't hold the lobes at high rpm.

Re: 230/236 with ported stock castings..in here

well, my mach shop said the cc 941's would do the job, but i just hit comps web site and they suggest max lift .500 for those, but subtract the coil bind(1.13)+.05 safety (=1.18)from the install height (1.75) gives you .570 which is more than enough for the .555 lift of the 230/236 cam.

so why are they rated for .5 lift??
will they hold??

thanks
mike

Re: 230/236 with ported stock castings..in here

I ran my car last night with my new setup. 230/236,stock unported heads, Jet Hot LT, 3 inch duals, th350, 3400 Edge, with 3.73's and netted a 12.29@110.3. Thats at 2100 DA. Could someone do the math for me? I love the cam.

Re: 230/236 with ported stock castings..in here

I ran a 230/236 110lsa for a while... I was able to get it to rev by using Comp R lifters. Tried swapping valvesprings, but that didn't help. Although it ran pretty good . Never got an 11 n/a out of it - but by the time I got it running right, it was in the middle of the summer. It did run an 8.0@83mph in the 1/8th, shifting @ 5k rpm's. <- Raced @ the SLP CAD and had to shift early to stay away from 6k as it flat out wouldn't rev past that. Once I got it to rev I was running 7.7's@92mph. Then I swapped out for the LE2 h/c package.

Thanks man! 11's would be sweet!!
I would like to know how to figure out what my car would run in an ideal conditions. The DA was 2100. There is a formula somewhere, but I can't find it.
