i have the same setup. these springs are rated for .600 lift and people are running bigger cams than ours on them so they should be fine.

yes, they are rated that, yes people run bigger, does that mean that people don't ever have valve float? no it doesn't. alot of people have problems with valve float on the XE grinds due to the aggressive ramp. i just wanna be sure the 612's can handle the XE lobes.

have you dyno'd your TA?

I have the same setup: 230/236 w/ 612's. Also, here's my dyno from the weekend: http://www.fuelslut.net/hosting/uploads/Dyno.jpg
With some tuning I'm hoping to break 350hp. We didn't even get a clean pull to 6k rpms because it was breaking up, so we didn't even reach where the cam peaks. I'm hoping I see the torque go up a little too b/c it seems kinda low.

what kind of head work have you had done???
i'm working the heads extensively. hoping for more than 350 myself. your a/r don't look too bad, too bad you don't have an m6, i'd have you mail me your tune! lol.

thanks, looks like these springs may work alright after all, now i just need some 1.6 rr's, and a good clutch!

I have an M6 and I can send you the tune tomorrow if you'd like. I have untouched stock heads also.

cool, it would be a start, so maybe with my ported castings, i'll get closer to my goals. just mail the bin file to limige1@aol.com. i think that would give me a good start.

I am putting 612's on Friday night with a cc306. I am using stock rockers so my lift won't be real high, but I will let you know how it goes.

233/239/112 w/612. No float to 6600 where I ended the run. Do I feel safe with them? No, but they do work.

If you don't feel safe with them why don't you use stronger than 612?? I think these new beehive springs will work well with your combination.. #26918

The only reason I kept them on there is because I'm swapping heads (and cam) soon so it will all be done at the same time.

Re: 230/236 with cm-612 springs.. good or not?

I'd go with comp 918s. Lift isn't necessarily just what causes float. I cam with .550 lift can float valves while a cam with .600 lift won't, you also have to take into account the ramp rates of the cams. With that being said the 918s should work great, they were designed to work with ls1 cams, that majority of which have more aggressive ramps than lt1 cams.

Re: 230/236 with cm-612 springs.. good or not?

thanks again guys, i've been reading alot of threads where people have valve float issues with this cam, i just wanted to be sure those springs were good enough before i bolted the motor together.
