230/236 or 236/242 in a daily driven 383?

Like it says. I had 230/236 in on the stock bottom end for only about 200 miles before I spun a rod bearing. I have made up my mind to go 383, but was wondering if I should up to the next larger cam. Like I said, this car is driven all the time and is the only means of transportation for myself. What do you recomend.

I would go with the 236/242 since you are going to a 383. I know trey has that cam in his motor so maybe he could shead some light on this for you.

Hey trey I saw some crash pics of your car did that just happen, also did you every get your car on the dyno?

POINT OF INTREST I WAS TOLD MY A SPEED SHOP IN HUSTON [MST]NOT TO PULL DOWN A LT-1 FOR A HEAD OR CAM CHANGE IF THE MOTOR HAS OVER 40,000 MILES. THEY CLAIMED THAT IF YOU DID YOU WOULD LOSE THE BOTTOM END SOON AFTER .

Ryan just get the bigger cam you know you want it

JMHO faded

I currently have the XE236/242 in my car. I have a stock bottom end with ported heads as you will see in my sig. The cam is rather big, but I also drive the car on the street. Just be prepared to rev the crap out of your motor with this cam, as will Trey will also tell you. I have yet to get mine dynoed so i dont know where it will peak at, but I am sure it will be in the 6500-6900 rpm range. The cam does have a nice lope to it, and with the right programming, the car will run fine on the street. But if your bottom end is built for high reving, and you want to rev pretty high, then get the cam if thats what you want. My car drives great on the street, and yesterday while doing some all interstate driving, it got 16mpg. Now that is great, but for this setup, I think that isnt bad at all with an A4. I will let you decide to get, but I know what I would get if I was you.
