227/233, CC305 or CC306
Re: 227/233, CC305 or CC306
Ive owned both the 305 and 306 cams. The 305 honestly doesnt lope at all. The 306 chops rather hard though. For driving around on stock heads, i would recomend the 305. I loved the TQ on the 305. It was quite the TQ monster. I could cruise at 40 in 6th without any cam surge at all.
My new car ran stock heads for a while on the 306 cam. It wasnt the most fun car to drive because of cam surge and lack of TQ. I have LE heads now and there is much more TQ and it runs alot better.
Take that for what its worth.

In the past, I've run both the CC305 and CC306 with stock heads, and definitely preferred the CC306. I didn't mind the aggressive lope, and my only other complaint was the surge from around 1600 to 1900 rpm. Long tubes, exhaust, CC306 got me solid 12's at 114+ mph on stock heads. CC305 was too tame for me.

Same here. Just swapped out the 305 for the 306 and long tubes(had shorties). Went from 298rwhp/316rwtq to 351rwhp/365rwtq on stock heads through an A4. If you don't mind some surge and extra attention, then get the 306. Plus if you ever get your heads worked over, you will see that much more of a gain. Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it over again like I did.
