2 Problems...

1) Speedo isn't working. OD and everything's fine.
What the heck...

2) There's a nasty vibration that kicks in around
60 and comes from what seems to be directly
under the shifter. It's like one revolution per second
and you can feel it. Punch it and the vibration
sorta fades away. There is no loss of power
whatsoever. Shifting is smooth and the trans
newer rebuilt one. Also, the oil filter was
disemboweled and no metal anywhere that I
can see with my naked eye.

I would like to rule out the tc bullying the tbearing,
so hoping it's just a bad U joint. Car has 176K.
I'll get under there tomorrow but for now just finished up a HG job
and sick of turning wrenches.

i'd checkout the driveshaft. the stock steel one is known for a vibration at highway speeds. if something hit it and possibly threw it out of balance, that'd be a likely cause

DS is lined up and spins fine, no noticeable trauma either. U joints appear to be ok with no play in the DS when wheels are on the ground. However... when the back is jacked up there is play in the DS and right at the trans joint is a noticeable bearing type sound when rotated back and forth. There is no fluid/oil leaking anywhere just play.

Check your tranny mount. It is a common issue for vibrations. Poly is no good you need stock rubber mount. just an idea.

mount is new - Energy Suspension
pretty sure it's the DS even though
it looks fine. ran the car jacked up
to about 60 and the DS was all over
the place. lft rim looked outtawack
so pulled them and still the vib was
there.
neway put a hose clamp opposite the
balance up front and took her out
for a spinneroo and vibration was not
as bad but still present. I might opt
for a new DS or just have this one
balanced. Speedo's prolly d/t a bad
sensor me thinks.
