I'd go slightly bigger...maybe a 3.42 (which is whats in my M6-swapping for 3.73). I think that'd give you some gains, not kill gas mileage and perhaps be just enough to keep your rear intact.
I could be wrong...

3.42 would be a better choice for you, thats what i have i like the gear
3.23 really would just be a waste of money it costs some $$$ to put in a gear
for me i went to the junkyard and got a 9C1 rearend that had 3.42 with posi

well the gas mileage wont really be that bad but it will be better than a 3.73 or 4.10's
3.42 is like for people who want to get some kick but still want to save on gas anything really bigger than you will see worse gas mileage

2:73's are alot better for launching and gas... theres no argument with that... i like my 2:73's and i especially like them when i go up against someone with 3:42's or 3:73's with similiar mods and they think they got me beat when i thrust to the front just before the traps

They're both about the same. The 3.23s are more fun but also rather traction limited. Basically the difference is 3.23's will always chirp 1-2 and the 2.73's won't unless on a really slick blacktop. If you have to swap go 3.73's. Otherwise the 2.73's are a more friendly gear than the 3.23's and don't sacrifice anything.
