I'd go slightly bigger...maybe a 3.42 (which is whats in my M6-swapping for 3.73). I think that'd give you some gains, not kill gas mileage and perhaps be just enough to keep your rear intact.

I could be wrong...

If you want to keep the good mileage you get on the highway, don't change.

3.42 would be a better choice for you, thats what i have i like the gear
3.23 really would just be a waste of money it costs some $$$ to put in a gear
for me i went to the junkyard and got a 9C1 rearend that had 3.42 with posi

3.73s would be a big jump on the A4...but, I agree...they'd probably be as fun as 4.10s on an M6!

well the gas mileage wont really be that bad but it will be better than a 3.73 or 4.10's
3.42 is like for people who want to get some kick but still want to save on gas anything really bigger than you will see worse gas mileage

You wont hurt it all to much from 2.73s, far as gas mileage goes.

2:73's are alot better for launching and gas... theres no argument with that... i like my 2:73's and i especially like them when i go up against someone with 3:42's or 3:73's with similiar mods and they think they got me beat when i thrust to the front just before the traps

They're both about the same. The 3.23s are more fun but also rather traction limited. Basically the difference is 3.23's will always chirp 1-2 and the 2.73's won't unless on a really slick blacktop. If you have to swap go 3.73's. Otherwise the 2.73's are a more friendly gear than the 3.23's and don't sacrifice anything.

Yeah those jobs suck. I cut yards instead of working at McDonald's when I was in high school. With 12 yards, I was up to $280 a week going into my senior year working a total of about 15-20 hrs a week . Even if you can pick up a yard or 2 in your neighborhood where you wouldn't have to drive there that would be a nice extra sum that you could use as "mod" money. Unfortunately unless your parents have a 3rd vehicle such as a pickup or SUV, you'd have to get a truck to cart around your mower, weedeater, blower and gas to different yards. If that's the case, perhaps you could convince them to let you do that and you put gas in the truck.
