2 or 3 series carrier
On your shifter plate does it read P R N (D) D 2 .
Or does it read P R N (D) D 2 1 .
If it reads the first one you have 2.73 gears with a 2 series
carrier.
If it reads the second one you have 3.23 gears with a 3 series
carrier.
If you have 2.73 gears with a 2 series carrier you have
the "economy" axle . (standard option from GM)
If you have 3.23 gears with a 3 series carrier you have
the "performance" axle . (option from GM)
Theres no such thing as a lock up tranny . Who you heard
that from must have been talking about the torque convertor.
Theres two types of torque convertors (aftermarket) =
lock-up and non lock-up
All torque convertors from the factory are lock-up .
