1st start fail

ive noticed a few times lately when starting my car first time of morning or after its been sitting a day or 2....it starts right uo, but quits. the second hit at it if i accelerate upon starting....it will do ok, but gas fumes are strong and theres a little fuel related smoke from exhaust that quickly burns away....what gives ?

possible faulty coolant temp sensor. check the CTS reading before you crank her up in the mornin. you'll need a scanner or measure the resistance and voltage directly on the sensor.

also possible a faulty idle air control motor.

Another possibility is a bad fuel pressure regulator. Check the vacuum control hose for fuel contamination.

Might be a leaky injector, too.

sounds like id be better of to go to a dealer for a diagnostic....
but they like to play "sensor games"...
