1997 wont crank need help
Ok I was leaving work one day and my car suddenly started slowing down I floored the gas nothing I coasted it to a pull off and would idle but as soon as I let the clutch out it would die so I figured the fuel filter or pump was bad I let the garage across the street look at it he was telling me the o2 sensors were bad causing the computer to go bad and thus not getting gas sounds like a load of crap to me well I told him to take it to my house and id fix it but when it arrived I couldn't get it to hit a lick I squirted ether in the throttle body and won't even try to crank any suggestions?
Re: 1997 wont crank need help
Do a opti diagnose. Should be stickied on the lt1 tech page. Also is it showing any codes?
Yep the top sticky. Just follow that guide and let us know the results.

And I don't have a fuel pressure gage but I hit the valve on top of the motor and it seemed pretty strong the owner has put a fuel pump switch so the car doesn't have to be running to cut it on or the battery on for that matter but if it was a fuel problem wouldn't squarting ether in the throttle body do something it just spins over but last night I saw that the ignition coil is not right on it . The clip has no where to clip on so the previous owner zip tied it tight I'm going to get a new one when I get off work to see if it will fix it

You indicated you figured it was the fuel pump or the fuel filter. Would appear to be a good idea to check the fuel pressure if that's what you suspected.
You shouldn't need a tech to pull the codes for you. You can get a cheap OBD-2 scanner for about $20. If you have to use a tech, ask him to write down the actual code numbers.

P1371 = loss of low resolution pulse signal from the cam position sensor in the Optispark distributor. That signal is required for the PCM to time the spark and the sequential fuel injection. When the code sets the PCM shuts down the fuel system.
Clear the code - pull the "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds. Try and start it. If it won't start and the code comes back, you have found the problem. A possibility it's a problem with the short Opti harness - check both end connectors for corrosion or damaged pins. Check the wires for bad insulation. Otherwise the distributor needs to be replaced.
