1995 LT1 alternator problem
1995 LT1 alternator problem
I have a 1995 LT1 i have swapped into a 1973 pontiac ventura. I believe it is an iron head out of a caprice.
I cannot get the alternator to charge i had been hooked into the caprice harness, then i used a hot wire from stock (pontiac) harness produce output voltage because the caprice harness did not seem to produce voltage. I had it charging then for some reason it quit. I replaced the alternator because i thought i had diagnosed it as bad because it quit outputting. I then went to ls1lt1 forums and they said it needed a 50-450 ohm resistor i tried various resistors in line from radio shack but still no good so i got another alternator still nothing. I made sure the case of the alternator was grounded. Here are the links to the other thread as well as pictures

Both wires are brown on the connector.

Yes, you need a 480 ohm resistor inline with the exciter wire to the alternator.
