oxygen sensor deletion

hi guys. i read it was possible to delete these o2 sensors.
1)is this info true?
2)if it is alright to delete these, do i just pull them and thats it, or should i run a block off on both headers where they screw in?
3)are there any drawbacks from removing these? ex. horsepower/torque loss (i highly doubt but you never know). Any problems that can hurt the engine mechanically? from my understanding they only read emission. so i guess question 3 is unnecessary but just in case
thank you

Well... if you pull them out, you should at least block off the holes.

I think if your going to remove them you should get it retuned, but I am not sure.

Not having O2's will force the car to always run in open loop, if tuned specifically for open loop I figure you could be ok.

That should give you a little info lol, I am sure one of the electronic gurus will help you better.

Short answers:

1.) Yes, it's possible to delete anything.
2.) Sure. Go ahead and pull them out and block them.
3.) Perhaps you should read up on O2 sensor function before experimenting with questions 1 and 2.

Even shorter answer - KEEP THEM.

Well, you can delete them by simply unplugging them The car will NEVER run right that way as the computer needs to have their feedback to select the correct pulse width for the injectors, along with the fuel trims, etc. You will not acheive the full potential of the engine and you will drink fuel like crazy. Bottom line, don't bother doing this unless you take off the rest of the fuel injection and the OPTI ignition.

You can always run a carb and a distributor that way......

I deleted the rears via PCM then left them in with my shorty setup. When I went to a ORY I didn't need to do anything. If you remove them block them off, but I wouldn't delete them unless you know it's best for your application.

Not sure about this...if it has fuel injection it has O2 sensors. You might be thinking about the rear ones....

He's talking about the front, primary, sensors as his is a '95 and doesn't have rears. Your statement, while correct, doesn't apply to his setup
