1995 camaro z28 - rough idle

Car idles fine when I first start the car (rpm's steady at about 800). Then, after driving for a short while, the exhaust becomes loud as if there was an exhaust leak (but there isn't). During this time, the rpm's fluctuate from 800 t0 1000. Then, after driving further, the noise goes away and returns back to normal exhaust sound (and steady at 800 rpm's). The car has the LT1 engine. Appreciate any feedback as to the problem.

1995 camaro

Thanks for your reply.

When driving the car at any speed, it "bucks" and would appear to be miss-firing. Also, when idling, the rpm needle fluctuates and the car idles a little rough. The "check engine" light does not come on. I brought the car to a garage and a diagnostic test could not reveal any codes stored in memory. They suggested new spark plugs and wires. Is this common with this vehicle?

As for the car, it is a 1995 camaro z28 with 69,000 miles. I purchased the car at 67,000 miles and this problem started only recently.

Thanks!

Wrong forum. Not really an "Advanced Tech" topic. I'll move it to "LT1 Based Engine Tech" for you.

Brought car to a mechanic and replaced spark plugs and wires. One wire was broken explaining the miss in the car. Car now idles perfectly and there is no hesitation upon acceleration.

I am glad I brought the car to a reputable mechanic and had the problem diagnosed properly.

Hope this feedback is helpful to those experiencing a similar problem with their vehicle.
