1995 camaro z28 optispark?

I resently bought my 95 camaro z28 last august it has run completely fine. it has about 102,000 miles.
story is: i was driving at a constant cruising speed when the car suddenly died, i put it in N and started it back up. got about another 5 miles when it died again... wouldnt start back up so i pulled over and realized that the oil filter had backed off and all my oil was on the ground. i put a new filter on and refilled the oil, started it and drove it home. wouldnt start the next morning so i decided it was time for some work. i changed plugs, wires, water pump, power steering pump and fuel filter on it. i also took distributor off and opened it to check to see if it was oil covered and it was clean minus minor corrosion that i cleaned with a wire brush it started and ran perfectly fine for about 50 miles, then it started to feel like it was missing. so i parked it and double checked wires. then it wouldnt start. i tested ignition system control module and it was bad so i replaced that. now it will start and run if i keep my foot on the gas, but the second i let off it dies. need HELP it runs on the opti spark system which i am familiar with but not 100% on. PLEASE HELP i feel like i am running out of options! getting frustrated

No mention of fuel pressure being checked. You should do that.

If pressure readings are good (42 lbs) my next guess would be the MAF, check for leaks around the joints. Also check voltage at the MAF, and make sure the fuse isnt blown.

PS> you should add a sig line that details your car (year, mods, ect.)

Also don't see any mention of a PCM scan for codes.

Re: 1995 camaro z28 optispark?

thank you for the replys, appoligys for not being able to get back on asap i have been trying to get car back together why gettingdental work done. I found out that the optispark was under cap and rotor i was unaware of this in the beginning, i am new to the optispark system. the optispark was covered in a urine smelling goo. so i replaced distributor. so far i have replaced
Plugs
wires
distributor
icm
coil
fuel filter
water pump
pwr steering pump
now... my check engine light is off. fuel pressure tested fine and no codes on pcm. the car is still acting funny. runs a little rough at idle, but idles fine when at higher speed, when accelerating it is shakey. it also takes off shakey, almost feels like something in transmission. when at wot the engine revs but its like the transmission has no power, it shifts rough out of first gear. all fluid levels are fine, and no mods.

Click on the link in Shoebox' s signature for his tech pages. Go to the "how to" page and there is link to a method for using jumper wires from 12-pin to 16-pin.

Ok so got ahold of a scanner no codes. Going to do compression tests tomorrow. Now the transmission is slipping really bad and can only get the car to a top speed of about 30 mph. Don't know what the hell is going on but this is getting ridiculous.

Re: 1995 camaro z28 optispark?

Feeling a little bit stupid... I recently moved out of my apartment when all of this had begun. My exhaust had quite a few holes so I didn't even think my exhaust could be clogged. Anyways I took the exhaust off at the manifold and it ran perfectly fine.... So after further inspection I found the plastic from what I believe was a ball that had been stuffed in my exhaust and melted. I began to wonder adhere it came from. Well while still at the apartment I was doing some work on the car and some of the neighborhood kids had shown some interest in what I was doing. I'm guessing they took too much interest and messed with my car. Nice to know I have all new parts on my car. Just upset that I didn't do this much sooner. Definitely a mistake worth making bc I will never do it again.
