Someday I'd like to figure out what is used in the cera-metallic coatings that poisons the O2 sensors. oh yeah, i hope you made the wiring on the actual o2 sensor longer, and not the wiring on the pcm side, if you did, whoops!

Actually, its the other way around. Extend the factory wiring hanress. Don't cut/splice the stainless steel sensor wires.

Your 95 is OBD-I, and has no way of knowing if the cat is there or not - there is no after-cat O2 sensor like there is in OBD-II. There is nothing to "tune".

I know you said you tied back the plug wires but how new are they? If they are a few years old I would replace them- they are cheap enough. In the midst of removing/re-installing the headers and such you might have messed up one of them and now its not working like it should.

As far as your computer it still shouldn't cut the power without a cat in it. Something is obviously wrong if you car has the ORY, OBD-II and you aren't throwing any codes. If nothing else it should be throwing a code for the missing o2's. Is there wiring for 4 02 sensors or just 2? If you have just 2 I have a feeling you were lied to.

Also from 95 to 96 they went from single cats to dual so if you have no cat and three inch piping diameter or smaller then theres no problem. But you cant go more than 1 5/8 headers and 3in piping or you will have alot of blow buy exhaust with no buildup for back pressure. So good luck buddy.
You read this as well as I did in Hot Rod Mag,when they tested the small block Chev engine. The 1 5/8 tubes were very acceptable.Don't know why though.My02.

No problem. I'm not sure what was used myself, but I can tell you that it smelled pretty bad. When the headers came up to temp in my garage, the car started to smoke something serious. I mean some thick white smoke. It actually made me sick on my stomach. I had to shut the thing down and let the garage air out. I then moved it outside to let it finish burning off. All told it smoked for around 15-20 mins and smelled really bad for about a week after. I do have the cat'd y-pipe, so something in there may have been burning off too.

About three weeks of running it after the header install, I got a code P0134 - Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit Insufficient Signal Activity Bank 1 Sensor 1.

I swapped in all my new AC Delco's and am praying that all the stuff that needed to be burned off has been burned off.

The Jet Hot flyer claimed that it would not hurt the O2's...but I can't believe it. Those O2 sensors may have been used, but they were perfectly fine when I took them out of service(to save for header install).

Edit:Well I thought the flyer said that....I've gone over it again and can't find it...I know I read that from them somewhere....
