1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
Re: 1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
Have you done any kind of diagnostic work - scanned for codes, run a PCM data log, checked fuel pressure, checked to see if Opti signals are reaching the ICM, via the PCM? Do you have “a big fat spark” like the person you quoted? Have you verified the injectors are pulsing? Have you had the ICM tested? Is the SECURITY light on?
Is the engine stock or modified? If modified, what mods?

Re: 1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
I don't even see why you bother honestly. It's an honorable thing, and as someone you have helped I firmly believe that you should be commended for your dedication to the Gen 2 community, but what's your time worth? I'm involved in a few forums that cut a large swath through the automotive world, and my philosophy is that I simply don't bother to respond to brand new members who:
1. Can't type intelligently. For some reason, the amount of horrendous run-on sentences and an apparent phobia of punctuation is inversely proportional to the ability to answer direct questions, take advice from experienced members, reply to their own topic with updates, and actually turning wrenches by themselves to try and fix the issue. If my eyes glaze over within 15 seconds of trying to read your illegible post I'm clicking the "back" button and never returning to the thread.
2. Create multiple posts with the same problem without bothering to respond to the original one or provide updates. As I say to every woman in my life that wants to talk about a problem, "Do you want help solving the problem or do you just want me to listen". Saves a lot of heartache on both ends if that premise can be established. However, on the forums I am neither your counselor or therapist. If you don't actually want help solving the problem I have no interest in you. Take it to a mechanic and find a psychologist.
3. Post ambiguous thread titles. "Please help". "engine wont start". "my car runz bad". No description of the vehicle in question, no details regarding the powertrain configuration, no symptoms of the problem.... I'm not going on a fishing expedition to help you help yourself. Nope. Scroll right past it. They won't reply to pointed questions either. See above. I could understand if this was the 90's or early 2000's, but it's 2024 now and it's simply incomprehensible to me that someone doesn't know proper forum etiquette when asking for help from people they don't know and who aren't present to look at the vehicle.
It sounds harsh, but in my later years I simply have no tolerance for people who make no effort whatsoever to lift a damn finger after asking someone else for help. It's a horrible personality trait and I won't suffer it. Read more, post less, educate yourself, then ask for help. After that, make a demonstrable effort to show that the time others are taking out of their lives, at no charge, to help you is appreciated. Otherwise, **** off. Find a mechanic and seek out a mental health professional who has experience treating narcissism.

Re: 1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
Never said I was a writer by trade and yeah I got a car that won't crank excuse me used to be crank now it's it'll crank but not start and I'm not very computer literate but I usually don't judge everybody by what they can do but that's what everybody I figured is here for so they can help each other out at least with a word that don't cost nothing here is free last I checked and wasn't trying to be dumb or nothing like that but I'm not really a mechanic I am a shade tree I worked on my stuff all my life or I wouldn't have nothing to drive and I have not been able to depend on people I depend on myself and God above and I'm just trying to find out what's wrong with my car I've been working on it a year and a half it cranks but will not start. I have changed the, fuel pump assembly, ignition module , ignition coil, throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator and the other sensor on the bottom of the throttle body, spark plugs and wires, alternator, put the resistor in, I bought two ECUs, temperature sensor, fix all the vacuum lines ,clean the throttle body thoroughly. Yeah I put a fuel filter on it, 5 fuel pumps, connector ends are all brand new and connected right right wire where they supposed to be. I have those computers tuned supposedly but my security light still comes on and goes off as I turn my ignition on but it just turns over and turns over it will not fire and got no fire and got no gas I am kind of mechanically inclined I usually put two and two together pretty good but this thing here I got 12 volts to my ignition coil on both sides of it. it's a new coil and coil module but the connectors I put for the coil or kind of thin and don't go in real tight into the coil. But I'm also trying to learn more you know about these things That's all I can remember I put on it. Help would be much appreciated. And I'm John Davis sorry I'm just not very computer illiterate so I did not see the notifications or whatever I'd have been on there trying to do something I don't even know how that post got there but I still have this problem I have been trying to find out some information from somebody that's got more than I do I can't afford to get it fixed up spend too much money on it already honestly the only thing I have at fixed is the spark but it runs so good when it was running I just don't believe that I'll be sparked is bad not with how it runs when it runs this is not getting no gas to the injectors I imagine but I don't know how to fix it then I apologize for any inconvenience anything starting to figure it out the computer how to use this so bear with me if you haven't seen me or send me a notification or something please thanks
Re: 1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
I'll try and help…. but it isn’t going to be easy. The sparse punctuation, coupled with one huge run-on paragraph makes it difficult to follow and understand. I may need to add punctuation, and break your post down to organized paragraphs. After doing that, I will ask you to review and approve my changes. I know this isn’t “English class”…. but accurate communication is essential.
In the meantime:
QUESTION #1 - What year is your LT1 car?
QUESTION #2 - Is the engine stock or modified?
QUESTION #3 - If modified, has the PCM been reprogrammed?
QUESTION #4 - How many miles on the car, how many miles on the engine?
You also need to understand…. there are very few active members here. There are more people asking for help than there are willing to offer help. This could take a while.

Re: 1994 Z28 cranks but will not start?
Got a same (but different) run-on email from Mr. Davis.
Car is a 94 Z with a B-body PCM 16188501 vintage,
VATS programmed out.
90K miles.
I would first scan to prove there are no trouble codes involving VATS or optispark.
