1994 optispark

There is only one way this can go back on the motor am I correct? I'm looking at the key and it is hubbed in a way that can only be put one way. Is that the same for inside the motor as well?

yes, it's keyed and if it goes on flat all the way you can't screw it up.

Thanks a lot I'll be doing it tonight and praying to the optispark gods that this is why she died and would not start. The optispark internals would not let me spin them even with a screwdriver!!

Just be VERY careful that you properly align the splines. I don't know how many threads I have seen where people SWEAR they did it right, only to find out when they pulled it apart the second time, they had forced it onto the splines wrong. It is only SUPPOSED to go on one way, but it is very easy to screw it up.

Thats why as it stands now in my block I moved the crank so that the keyway "hub" is facing perfectly 12:00 and I am going to put it in the opti first---then stick it into the block to be absolutely sure it is in right...good idea huh? Because i noticed you cannot put it in the block wrong since I purposely tried and it refused to go in other then the way it came out. But I could put it in the opti wrong!!

You've got me confused. I thought you were talking about assembling the Opti... putting the splined shaft correctly into the cam sprocket, and into the back of the Opti. But now you appear to be talking about the crank sprocket, keyways, hubs, etc.

Exactly what part are you trying to assemble.

If I misunderstood, I apologize, but the topic appeared to be about the Opti.

Sorry!! I already have the opti in it's complete form and i was talking about when yo put it back on the motor the sprocket that connects the opti to the motor the long pin type thing.
