1993 4l60 shift kit problem?

Hey everyone

I have a 1993 z28 350 lt1 and the 4l60 non electronic transmission and my question is when I put the shift column into the #1 or 2 gear it makes a noise like line pressure building up or something. If given gas it will smoke the tires ridiculously and the car will not move. If the gear selector is placed into the "D" or 4th and I floor the throttle from a dead stop is seems the car starts out in second, does not peel out or anything. I have had two 1993 z's and both were said to have shift kits and both did this exact same thing. Does anybody know what I might have or where I could go to find out(could the detent or kickdown cable be played with to fix it). Everybody says I need a new transmission but I dont think so. it also doesnt really downshift in "D" either I have to pull the shifter into the #1 or two position to accelerate but it drives me crazy and I really dont like it. The tranny never slips or makes any other noises, it actually feels pretty tight in my opions.
Thanks
Brian

My detent cable was pulled out to much one time and and it was kinda like that except it wouldn't shift. Real strong take off and then no-shift. Adjust your cable and then give it another try.
