1993 383 LT1 into a 1995

Need some help determining what sort of challenges we would face.

Taking the 383 LT1 out of my 1993 700R4 Z28 and putting it in an 6 speed 1995 Z28.

Can he use my opti and just plug up the vacuum line for the vented opti? Will his opti harness plug into my 93 opti?

Would he be better off converting his car to speed density and taking my PCM and wiring harness? Will his guages still work?

He can run the 93-94 unvented Opti. He will need a new harness to go from the gray connector on the passenger side of the intake manifold to the Opti. Casper makes them for reasonable $$$. Going to the unvented Opti will be a step backwards.

The gauges (fuel, coolant, oil and voltage) have nothing to do with the computer, so they will not be affected. The oil pressure sending unit will be in a different location, requiring rerouting of his harness connection, or moving the oil pressure sending unit to the top/back of the block. Tach and speedo will not be affected if he puts your engine in his 95, and keeps his 95 PCM. The 93 has some sort of tach "filter" in it, but I think its in the harness, not on the ICM. He could hook everything up, and use his existing MAF sensor. I would also recommend that he swap his intake manifold and fuel rails, since his PCM runs sequential injection, and your 93 rails are designed to support batch fire.

Not Advanced Tech... you would have got more responses on LT1/LT4 engine Tech. I'll move it there.

Another thing to touch on. The 93 IAC uses a square 4 pin connector, the 94+ IAC uses a flat 4 pin connector. This only poses an issue if you're using the 93 TB in the new car obviously.

Injuneer touched on it, but if you are planning on keeping the stock 93 fuel rails/manifold setup, you'll need a new set of forward fuel lines for a 93. They're only about $15 or so from GM, and a real easy swap.

If the engine is already tuned he'd probably be better off using the 93 PCM and existing tune.

93-94 unvented, 95-97 vented. Just do a vented swap for what ever one you want (Swap opti, cam dowel, timing cover)

383 will bolt in consideing its an LT1 block (mounts) are the same.

Use whatever harness comes with the block year, if it's a 1993 use a 1993 engine harness (inc. underhood fuse consol), PCM, AND dash harness and everything should work properly. (you need to keep the wires the same per year.)

from what ive learned from my 94-95 swap.
