17"x10" rear wheel. what tire?

what tire width would be max fit on this size wheel. i would like to put a 305 tire but i dont know if it will be too much rubber for a 10" wheel? anyone have them on their car?

where can i find this sizes , 285,295,305.

You can put upto 315X35R17 size tire on the 10" wheel with minimum modifications (sometimes none, depending on the offset of the wheel)

Minimum tire size would be 275X40R17 on 10" wheel..

Hope this helps..

Go to TIRE RACK and do a "search" on the sizes you want. In 17's you are only going to find 275, 285 and 315 for that size rim. And, you need to pick a specific tire and look at the "specs" page, to see what size rim it will fit on.

A quick search did not show any 305/40 or 305/35 sizes. And the 315/35's that I looked at recommend in most cases a rim width no less than 10.5", and in some cases (BFG KD) 11.0".

You also need to have an "offset" for the rim to know if it will fit correctly in the wheel wells. A 10" wide wheel will need an offset in the 50-55mm range.

My friend is running 285/40/17 on his 17x10" rims and they work fine. They do look a little small on the rim, but not much.
