17 x 11 wheels fit with modification?!?

Looking at some wheels for my 96 Z...I'm most interested in Torq-thrust II's with 17 x 9.5 in the front and 17 x 11 in the back. I have heard horror stories about cutting into wheel-wells with 11 inch wide rims in the rear. Do you hafta cut into anything to make them fit or will they slide right on??

Anyone got pics of ZR1 rims on their car or torq-thrust II's? Its hard to find any pics of them on a 93-97 f-body. Thanks

Adam

As I underestand it, the TT II 17x11's have a 7.50" backspace. That moves them almost 1/2" further towards the outside of the car than the "normal" ZR1/Grand Sport 17x11 50mm replica, which has a 7.93" backspace. That means that it is unlikely you will have a problem with the tires rubbing the inner fender liner, or the inside edge of the wheel catching on the lounce bumper bracket. On the other hand, the tires will end up closer to the "lip" on the outer fender opening, and "rolling" the lip MIGHT be necessary.

Its an LS1, but I think the TT II's look pretty good. The owner is Kelly Drown.... if you go to the Project TransAM bulletin board (which he owns and operates) you can post or PM him as "Kelly Drown".

I think you will get the best results on "wheel" questions on the "Appearance" forum.....
