I installed a 160* stat with a 176/on 166/off fan switch, and not only does my car run cooler but it also has more power(even if I did lose about 1 mile per gallon).

I know that LT1's and L98's are programmed a bit differently=) (mine ran at 220* cruising and the fan was 243/on and 223/off with a 195* stat) but you should notice a bit of difference.

I have the 160* T-stat in my car and it always runs between the first 2 marks, after I put the programmer on it. The only thing I really hate about the T-stat is that the Heat never really gets hot in the car during the cold winter months. And you know it sucks sitting in a cold car.

That is what I've always done. I've always had someone in the car looking at the temp gauge to make sure I wasn't overheating. mine has always gone (when I am bleeding) just before the red mark. I've never had any problems with this. Just make sure the check gauges light doesn't come on. Hope this helps.
