I have a question.

On the car that I'm thinking of buying, the current owner kept the original window sticker of the car when he bought it in 1994.

On the sticker it reads:

1994 chevrolet camaro Z28 2dr coupe
and then there's the picture of the gas pump, and on each side, there's the fuel ratings (mpg). I was expecting very low ratings, and the city rating on the sticker was low (20 mpg) so I wasn't surprised. However, on the highway, this thing is rated at 34 mpg !!! I did a double take when I saw that, couldn't believe it!
The guy then explained to me "yeah, when you're on the highway cruising at 120 km/h in 6th, you're only at about 1800 rpm, so it's very economical." I was quite happy about this since I do MOSTLY highway driving during the summer, but also a bit skeptical. Could it be that GM overated the gas mileage of the car a little bit?
I highly doubt it could even get 30mpg (or even 25mpg - I'd be happy with that) on the highway from what you guys are saying.

I think you should expect 18 city / 25 highway from your LT1...*shrug*

unless you have a real heavy foot and/or some high modifications that would eat away your gas mileage...

34 seems insanely high, unless its a halfbreed. 29 is what my sticker said, but i have an auto. my neighbors t/a said 31 and he's got a manual. now we both get somewhere like 22 on the highway.

if i can still get 17/22 and destroy some riceburner's ego, i as happy as can be

I also get 150-160 per tank on 93 octane. no lead footing it. the opiti is about a year old the pulg are new but the wires are origanal. as far a i know the fuel filter is still factory. The car has 66,000 miles on it.

How do i improve gas mileage?

how much does a laptop and the programs really help out for finding stored codes? i need some type of scanning device and i do have a laptop but i am not good with computers. also, how much will the rest of the software i need cost? as for the fuel economy, changing my o2's made the most difference for me.

I got 383 miles on one tank highway driving, filled up and only put 13.672 gallons in. averages out to about 28mph, 29mpg if you round it up, this is with all my mods with stock pcm and no tuning.
I ran up to Beech Bend KY, filled up, drove 80miles there, ran 3 times, and then drove back, I was still above half a tank with 185 miles on the odometer.
I always fill up at the Shell gas station using 93 octane only. I keep the fuel filter replaced every 20,000 miles. I am just **** like that though.
Around town, strictly city driving I will see about 260, today I filled up and put 12.752 gallons in that averages out to about 20mpg.
