Is 14.0 possible on street tires?

I was thinking last night. After I launch I'm spinning for 30ft or so(till second gear). Then I run 14.6-14.7 If I had drag radials it would help. I've tried an easier launch and get similar times.

Yes. You want 60' times below 2.0. What kind of mph for the 1/4 mile are you seeing. Anything around 101 should get into the 13's.

what kind of tires are you running now? i know with the crappy all season, high mile yokahamas that my car came with i was able to chirp 4th on occasion...

put on some new firestone firehawk SZ50's and i haven't even been able to chirp 3rd now!!

they rock!

there are guys pulling near 12 sec with street tires!

my tires were absolutely horrible... i think out of 10 runs at the track (granted they were my FIRST runs at the track) i was only able to pull a best of 2.3x in the 60'
most of them were 2.4-.5!!

absolutely horrible

On crap tires I was doing 9.1 in the 1/8, thats like a 14.2 or so. That in Texas heat, you shouldn't need any thing to run low 14s.

I went 13.19 on a 1.923 short time on SZ50's.

Well my car is bone stock and I'm using a g tech. My mph is around 99-100. I should be at a lower et with that trap speed I think. I know the gtech trapspeed is 2-3 mph higher than a track would be. Forgot to mention I have goodyear eagles on the back. The tread is getting kinda thin but if you stick a penny in you cant see lincolns head so its still usable.

Launching off idle with little to no spin and street tires you should get 14.0 to 14.2 w/2.2 60-foot with a bone stock 6-speed 95 Z28.

I'm going to run 11's this season on true street tires. I am running 12.7's at 113. Get sumitomo's htr+s you will never go back I can hardley chirp second without the juice, they hook very hard. They hook as well as DR's as far as I'm concerned (I've had bfg's) but they actually last more than a week.

I went 14.15 @ 100.75 on balding Dunlop SP 8000s with a 2.4 60'. That was my fastest time before drag radials. The Sumitomo HTRZ2s seem okay now but they're not quite Nittos.

I ran a 13.38@103.49 with a 1.994 60' last Thursday at Coastal Plains Dragstrip. I was running old BFG radial T/As ( not drag radials). Practice your launch and you'll get well under 14.0.
Good Luck!

I run a 13.3 on old nasty street tires that have a 400 tread wear. Now my new drag radials have a 0 tread wear. So you should easily be able to hit 13's on street tires.

95greendragon, no offense, but they don't.

Put those tires on my car and what 11's dissappear.

You are NA also though lots of torque and power shock off the line, I don't run the juice until about 15 - 30 feet off the line. I ran the bfg's on a supercharged car and was not impressed with them. I know I could run faster with DR's but I want the challenge of running 11's on street tires. It really shouldn't be that hard considering my very first and only run with the 125 was 12.7 with completly full tank of gas. It should run 12.5's as it sits no problem, I haven't even started with the engine bolt-ons yet! Paper air filter, crappy manifolds!
