130K miles small cam okay?

I was thinking a CC305, or LT4 cam. Those are the only cams I know that are relativily small.

What is a list of parts that I need to install to feel comfortable running it?

I know so far

LT4 timing chain
1.6rr
Tune

What other valve train components am I missing? And even with those will it be alright on a stock bottom end Lt1 with 130K?

I'm running a 230/242 .544"/.576" cam on a 137k engine so don't worry about durability, you're fine. Unless your lift is very high you won't technically need new valve springs/retainers, but I'd recommend some anyway. You may even want double valve springs depending on the lift you end up getting. You'll also want to check your lifters, see if they roll easily, and get new ones if necessary. Also don't get the LT4 timing chain, it's a huge rip off. If you're willing to go with an electric water pump conversion you can get a double roller timing chain for about $40, and it beats the LT4 kit hands down. Lastly, you'll want an LT4 knock module given the additional noise your RR's will be creating.

No way man, you will get 2k more out even with a small cam. Guess what its Rebuild TIME! Port n polish or new heads and pistons rockers valves then a BIG CAM.

Comp 305. You need to change your spring and lifter. I would use comp 987's w 1.6rr's. Sealed pro has a good replacement lifter. For a good price. They oil great too. New timing chain set is a must too.
Do it right and do it once.

I've never done that to an LT1, but I've done it to a half dozen gen1 flat tappet 350's of similar milage. It will probably have bearing knock within 20k, depending on how hard you drive it. The oiling and bearing system on an LT1 is not significantly different. IMO, only appropriate for a weekend warrior that you don't mind blowing up. Definitely use full synthetic oil, and a new high volume oil pump (for the worn clearances) will help extend it's life. If you increase the redline much, it's certain to die a hasty death. High mileage is not the time to subject it to the stress of that extra power. Good luck either way.

Ummm, or you take it to 6800 with the new power on old **** that shouldn't be going that high, IMO its not that people generally mess up the install, its that they tend to overdo it on the car and you get into trouble. Thats the only reason i have not put in my 306 with 140k on the car, and i know i would beat the **** out of it and have something break.

I have 120k on my lt1, with several k being with a cc306 and spinning to @ 6300. I know its not extending the life, but I don't think its killing it yet either.

Keep the install as clean as possible.

Can you describe bearing knock? I here about people spinning bearings a lot, but I thought it was either good or bad bearings. Are there warning signs or something?

I think te power curve drops off before 6800 rpms on a 305.

i put in a lt4 hot cam at 115k mikes and shes running strong, even with the occasional 150 shot of the laughing gas. youll be fine as long as you put a clean cam in and dont spin a cam bearing.
