12 sec lt1?

I was talkin to a buddy of mine about my car, it originated talking about how much torque my transmission could hold. There is a thread on here from awhile back stating that the lt1 transmissions can hold a maximum of 350 tq, and that a stock lt1 should put out 330, and any mods after that you may have problems. But supposedly the trans has been built up by the previous owner and put a shift kit in, i have to get in contact with him about what he meant by built up but in the meantime i was talking to a freind about headers...
He said that by just doing headers, exhaust and a 3500 stall and some nittos i would be in the 12 second range, that sounded a little exaggerated to me. What do you think? maybe possible with a cam swap?

he has a firehawk that runs consistent 11's, and knows a pretty good amount about cars, now im doubting him.

forgot to mention what kind of car... never made a sig
94 A4 z28, 83k miles, nothing done to it besides "built" trans and shift kit, not sure if the filtercharger is stock or not

I dont know about the 330hp thing about the lt1 since there are many people on this board either pushing 400rwp or exceeding it. LT headers, exhaust, CAI, stall, and nittos should put you at very high 12's or low 13s pretty easily. Just the headers, CAI, and exhaust should have you mid 13's or better already. I would say with a good launch its very possible. Throw a nice little cam in and away you go!

With LT headers, cold air, catback, and a Vigilante 2800 stall on Nitto's, I went 12.9's @ 104

how did you like the 2800 stall? would you have gone higher or did that suit you? i was originally considering the 2800 but my buddy said i should go with a 3500.

When the car was only bolt-ons it was great.. put it this way, I cut 1.7 60's on Nitto's with it. Now that I have a 224/230 - 112 LSA cam in there, I could use a bit more stall. Since it's a Vigilante I will get one free restall, I'll be bumping it to a 3400 stall.

You should have no problems at all running 12's without a cam. I'm running the time in the sig on stock heads and cam.

I ran 12.9@104 w/ 1.77 60' as well before the cam. The Vig 3200 was a bit big for the stock cam though.

As for my tranny, its hasn't been rebuilt and is stock except for the converter and TransGo shift kit.

I just auto-xed it hard today, and its still fine.
