12 bolt ABS TC question

I have both traction control and ABS. I might be in the market for a 12 bolt soon not sure if I know the differences or limitations between a 3 channel and 4 channel set up.

Can I buy a 12 bolt used that doesnt have TC? I have no need for it anyway so I wouldnt care if I lost it. How does the ABS factor in than?

Yes you could use a 3 channel axle. YOur brakes will work fine, just no trac control or ABS. Your ABSinop light will be on all the time, but you could pull that bulb. Moser makes the axles with tone rings for the 4 channel cars. I think it was an extra 100 bucks.

To give you a lil more info, the 4 channel setup has sensors at all four wheels.

The three channel has tone rings at the two front wheels, and one in the differential on the ring gear.

4channel and traction control go hand in hand.

The 4 channel rears are not drilled for the sensor on top of the differential. In my case where i put a 4 channel rear in my 3 channel car i bored out the differential for the abs sensor close and jammed the sensor in there. I didn't add the tone ring on the ring gear yet so my abs still doesn't function. It made sense to bore it while it was out of the car and just plug the hole with the sensor. I'll probably never reactivate it. The 4 channel axles would have worked fine, but they have tone rings on the end which are 'extra'.

Hope that helps you understand the ABS differences, i know i didn't find out till i was into the swap.

I have a set of spare 4-channel reluctors if you need them. They were ~$75, 1/2 price if you need them.
