Are 11s possible...

Hey guys since I'm pretty new to the LT1 world still, I was wondering if 11's are possible in an A4 LT1 with full bolt-ons and no internal mods. I know it was possible with the LS1's but I really think you had to do just about everything to be in the mid-high 11s. It's not a neccessary goal, but more or less i'm just curious as to whether or not it's possible.

Thanks for the insight,
Ryan

With a shot of nitrous and full boltons 11s may be possible.

Re: Are 11s possible...

if ya wanna swap out the rear and get a 12 bolt with sticky tires and some 4.10 gears then id say mid twelves might be possible
but if ya throw stickey tires on the stock rear its gonna blow since i blew mine on street tires without full bolt ons
i guess theres a chance that it would last but its not a chance i would take cause rear work sucks

Re: Are 11s possible...

I never had any problems with the 10 bolt in my LS1 and it was a mid 12 sec car with 4.10s in the otherwise unmodified 10 bolt. I'm not too worried about the rear end, but it sounds like I may not be able to break into even the 12's without a power adder or internal mods, is that right?

Best time with bolt ons and traction, low 12's on a prayer. More than likely high to mid 12's. Good Luck. 11's arent impossible though.

Possible, sure. It would be much more expensive to get elevens that way than it would be to just dive into the engine though. Unless you're looking for the bolt-on record, there's a point at which bolt-ons become much more expensive than engine work.

Don't expect to have much left of the interior or things like A/c or radio since you'll want to put your car on a serious diet.

My short term goals include a cam and roller rockers also, I just wanted to know how good bolt on LT1's could get.

Thanks for all the info.

Re: Are 11s possible...

Most bolt on lt1's with decent drivers will pull high to mid 12's. And that is with full interior, or minimal interior removed.

If you plan on doing a cam swap down the road, these are the mods you will want to do right away.

2800-3000 stall w/trans cooler and shift kit
3.73- 4.10 gears
PCM tuning (I recommend http://www.madz28.com)
mid to long tube headers
offroad y-pipe with cutout, or a true duals system
drag radials
subframe connectors
upgraded lower control arms

Those mods will benifit you in the long run, and will really wake up your lt1. The car feel pull much harder. And with good weather and practice you will be in the 12's.

I very much agree.
